Oncology massage is a specialized form of massage therapy that is designed to address the unique needs of individuals who are undergoing cancer treatment or have a history of cancer. This type of massage can be a valuable component of an integrative oncology program, as it has been shown to help alleviate various symptoms associated with cancer and its treatment, as well as improve overall quality of life for patients.

The clinical model of integrative oncology, which combines conventional cancer treatment with complementary and integrative medicine (CIM) approaches, has gained increasing recognition in recent years (Löpez et al., 2017). A central aspect of this model is the incorporation of therapies such as oncology massage, which can play a significant role in symptom management and enhancing the well-being of cancer patients.(Sagar, 2008) Integrative oncology consultations often include referrals for oncology massage, along with other complementary therapies like acupuncture, physical therapy, and nutrition counseling, to develop a comprehensive care plan tailored to the individual's needs (Sagar, 2008)(Löpez et al., 2017)(Semeniuk et al., 2023).

Research has demonstrated the benefits of oncology massage for cancer patients. Oncology massage has been shown to be effective in managing symptoms such as pain, fatigue, anxiety, and nausea, all of which are common experiences for individuals undergoing cancer treatment.(Löpez et al., 2017).

Shea Shulman combines Oncology Massage with Healing Touch for added benefits. Healing Touch Therapy allows the body to use its own energy system to help recover from illness and reduce unwanted side effects of cancer treatments.
